WEATHER:
The Montenegro coast is spoilt with a Mediterranean climate. The average temperature in the summer is 27.5°C and can reach up to mid 30°C during August.
The average number of sunny days per year is 240. The temperature along the coast during winter months is generally mild, although November and March can be rainy !
TRAVELLING:
The most popular way of getting to Montenegro at the moment is by flight into Dubrovnik Cilipi airport in Croatia, and driving down over the border to Montenegro. The drive from Dubrovnik Cilipi airport to Kotor is on average 1 hour and 30 minutes.
By Air:
British Airways, Aer Lingus and Croatia airlines are among the airlines that regularly fly into Dubrovnik Cilipi airport.
JAT and Montenegro Airlines also fly to Tivat and Podgorica, in Montenegro. Charter flights also fly into Dubrovnik and Tivat airports during the Summer months.
** Other budget airlines are likely to fly into Montenegro airports in the coming year.
By Sea:
You can reach Montenegro at the port of Bar from Bari in Italy. Also, during the summer months, there is a ferry service from Bar to Kotor. The ferry is typically overnight, taking around 8/9 hours.
CURRENCY:
The currency in Montenegro is the Euro. There are ATM machines in most towns, but credit cards are generally not accepted. Banks are open from 8 until 4 and some 8pm every day except Sunday. Closed half day Saturday. |
